Riding the High Energy Waves

Linda Heron Wind, Ph.D.

One of the things that often challenges us is to work with the waves of high energy that are coming through at this time. It would seem that high energy would feel great and we should be able to go about our daily lives feeling blissful. Sometimes this is the case, but, more often than not, high energy pushes us into our oldest patterns for releasing. "In your face and up your nose," is the best description of what it feels like to be pushed by the wave. When you resist the push or go into the same old reaction that you have had for years, the wave washes over you and turns your world upside down. And then, of course, there is the undertow!

Since we all have different places within us that are stuck and resistant to change, the experiences we each have with the energy waves looks different. A person that is very task focused and time stressed may be forced in some way just to be. If you are a person who takes care of others and not themselves, there may be a situation that requires you to take care of yourself and not others. If you are a person who is very unforgiving and hard on themselves, you may be confronted with an experience that requires your self-forgiveness for you to move forward. I think this gives you a sense of what "in your face and up your nose" looks like.

When you know what your old patterns are - where you are stuck and inflexible - it is easier to recognize why the experience you are having during an energy wave is happening. If I am aware, then I know that I have two choices: the first is to surrender and go willingly and the second is to go kicking and screaming all the way (otherwise known as suffering). Either way, I am going. Even if I find myself in the second choice and the suffering is upon me, I can surrender and move willingly into a more expansive and authentic version of myself at anytime.

"Why," you say, "would you kick and scream and resist change if you are going anyway and it is to a more authentic place." Fear. Plain and simple, fear is our prison and at the bottom of all resistance to change. Every time we are ready to move out of the small room we have been living in, into a more spacious version of ourselves, FEAR is printed in bold red letters on the door. The antidote to this venom called fear, that poisons our mind and emotions, is trust. When you can begin to interpret the feeling of fear as an EXIT sign showing the doorway out of the smallness you feel trapped in, you begin to head in the direction it tells you not to go in. "Oh yes, there is the door out of my current difficulties!" As soon as you move through the door, the feeling of fear is replaced by a sense of freedom.

So fear is really only a directional sign if we allow it to be, if we can trust that we are really on a journey of awakening that is divinely guided. As we move through this wave of energy that is associated with the eclipses and equinox, stay aware and look for the EXIT sign rather than holding on to the old furniture and fixtures of the too small self. Get on your surfboard and ride the wave into the next part of your journey!

The surf is up now
Will you ride the wave this time
Or resist its call?
