Multi-tasking vs Multi-dimensionality

Linda Heron Wind

With time continuing to speed up, there are alternatives to just dancing faster and multitasking as you go. In the past multitasking - working on several things at the same time - was our solution to time going faster. Now even that becomes too complex and difficult, as we are called to simplify and be present in the moment. Our "to do" lists keep getting longer no matter how many things we attempt to do at the same time!

As consciousness shifts we are being catapulted into a new relationship with time. In the past, time extended in a linear fashion from past to present to future. A certain amount of time was required to accomplish a certain thing. Multitasking is when we layer multiple tasks over the same time period, such as making phone calls while you do your grocery list and check your email. Attention is moved quickly back and forth among the tasks in the moment. And none of the tasks get your full, undivided attention.

Multidimensionality refers to the ability to attend to many dimensions of reality in the present moment. Focus is on one task but many dimensions of consciousness feed into that one moment. As a result, the task is completed in a fraction of the time that it might be within a single dimension. In multidimensionality there is no past or future, only the present moment that is viewed from multiple levels of consciousness, all working together. We could think of multidimensionality as a vertical expansion of time while multitasking is a horizontal expansion of time. When we use multidimensional approaches in the moment, we find that things are accomplished easier, with a sense of connection and presence in the moment.

How do we use this new vibrational approach to life? Presence in the moment is, of course, necessary, but we also need to slow ourselves down and release old structures and beliefs about how we accomplish things in the world. In the moment we can then hold an awareness of the physical world, our thoughts and feelings, and a sense of spiritual connection. When we bring all of these levels into the moment, what is accomplished is far beyond what old beliefs would tell us is possible.

An example of this is one that I think we have all experienced at one time or another. Have you ever had a day where everything just flowed from one thing to another effortlessly, with synchronicities popping up just at the right time? There is a sense of being in the groove and the universe seems to line itself up for everything to be accomplished in ways you could not have imagined. What makes that happen? Somehow you entered into a magical time with all your multidimensional selves working together to accomplish things in present time. While we have all probably experienced this, it is more difficult to know how to enter it at will.

The alignment of your physical being, feelings, thoughts and spirit in the same moment takes some practice. It often begins with meditation or inspiration that creates the vibration of harmony within you. It cannot happen by trying with your physical self or with your mind. It must begin from the higher vibration of spirit and you can intentionally engage that in the moment through quieting the mind and emotions, suspending judgment, and letting go of beliefs about what is possible. When that happens you become the container through which the universal energy can flow into the world.

What prevents me from accessing my multidimensional self in the moment is worry about time and multitasking. That locks me into the physical and everything takes longer than I think it should. So if you are feeling overwhelmed and getting farther behind with your multitasking these days, try letting go of time and structure so you can access your multidimensional magician self that works outside of time and space to accomplish the "impossible."
