Grounding
--
by Linda Heron Wind, Ph.D. Grounding is a term that is used in many ways. Many who
like to soar out in the ethers think of it as an Earth tether. There is
another way to look at grounding, however, that is more intriguing and
more challenging. Most of us have learned that the spiritual journey is
made by ascending the chakras into enlightenment and, at the same time,
transcending the physical. Yet if that is true, what about the notion
that our task here on Earth is to embody spirit? How does that fit? Recently I came across information that suggests that bringing
energy down the chakras into the Earth is actually more important now
than moving the energy up. I guess I was always aware that the energy
moved both ways but as I contemplated that movement while working with
my own first and second chakras, I came to understand something that I
believe is very significant about that movement. I will attempt to share
that understanding here, at least as far as it has unfolded in my awareness. The initial movement on the spiritual journey is, indeed,
up the chakras, but once we have connected with spirit at the crown, the
task becomes one of embodiment, that is, bringing the spiritual truth
and wisdom back down through the chakras and anchoring it into Earth.
In this descent we revisit each of the charkas and the issues it contains.
The difference on the way down is that each issue is viewed again with
the eyes of spirit. For example, when we are moving up, the second chakra issue
is about relationship with the other - with people, money, and environment.
On the way down we arrive at the second chakra with the understanding
that there is no "other" - we are all one and part of each other.
The primary relationship issue, then, is about relationship with self.
The spiritual truth is that if you want to have good relationships with
others, with money and with the environment, you need to be in good relationship
with yourself. Whenever you are out of relationship with yourself, it
will immediately be mirrored back to you by the "other." Below are what I have become aware of as the differences between the journey up the chakras and the journey back down again.
I know that there is much more that will unfold about
this movement, but even knowing this much has made the concept of grounding
not what makes the spiritual journey possible but instead the goal of
the spiritual journey. A further insight is how this
relates to the energy grid system. I had always seen the grid system as
concentric rings from the physical grid under our feet, going out to the
spiritual or crystal grid that is above the Earth plane. The image I was
given, however, is that the grid system is more like how a trolley car
works. The physical grid is anchored at the bottom of our feet and the
top of our head and allows us to access the hologram that we call the
physical dimension. For energy to flow we must be connected at both poles.
Wearing shoes and being in houses tends to "unground" us so
the energy does not properly flow through our bodies. The result is poor
physical health. Likewise there is an etheric grid
that connects to the top and bottom of the electromagnetic energy body.
The astral or emotional grid connects top and bottom to the emotional
body. The mental grid connects to the mental body, and the crystal grid
connects through the Star Child, a couple of feet above the crown, and
the Earth Child, a couple of feet below the surface of the Earth. Through
these grid systems we access information that is part of the collective
consciousness and down load it into our own energy system. Unless we make
the journey back down the chakras and connect with the Earth Child, we
cannot fully access the energy or information contained within the crystal
or star grid. I certainly cannot say that I fully understand this whole system and how it all works together but I seem to be getting more information on it as I begin to apply it to my daily life. Stay tuned - another level of knowledge is being downloaded for all of us to access. As flowers seek light Connecting
