Singing together
A symphony emerges
From our many notes

Seek to understand.
You need to be understood
Only by yourself

What's Happening?

Beginning with this Full Moon, August through September will hold the potential for big change. A Full Moon in Aquarius is about community and it asks us to look at community within and outside of us. The community within is the collection of inner voices that we hear in our minds and the outer community is the people that we work, live and play with as well as the community of Earth and her inhabitants. We are being called into unity on all levels.

The 11th through the 17th is a time of increased vibration and an opening that will allow us to shift and transform. The most important thing during this time is to open to receive the light that will pour onto Earth. We are like lightning rods that ground the energy through our bodies. Through this process we allow the collective consciousness of humanity to evolve toward the higher vibrations of love. Be aware of what presents itself to you during this time for transformation.

September will bring two eclipses, one nearly coinciding with the Fall Equinox. More about that next time.

The wave is coming
Be present! See the gateway
Open before you

DANCING INTO THE DARKNESS: Entering the Jaguar Dreaming Lodge
September 29 - October 1
with Linda Heron Wind, Ph.D.

If we are to survive on this sweet Earth and move into the predicted time of love and peace, we must learn to be the conscious dreamers of our lives and our world. Shamans have known how to dream the world and jaguar teaches us the secrets that the darkness holds. Together we will make our dream masks, call on the jaguar and dance into the darkness to bring these ancient wisdom ways more fully into our lives. Join us as we dance, create ceremony and sacred art, and ride the jaguar into the darkness.

TIME: Friday September 29 (6 PM) to Sunday October 1 (Noon)
COST: $120 (limited to 15 women or men). All meals provided.
REGISTER BY: September 1 with a deposit of $60, remainder due at retreat.

Ritual

Ritual in Community - You may already have a group of people or a few friends that you do ritual with. If not, call some people together that you feel might be receptive to this kind of work. Plan a ceremony together to honor the Full Moon and the connections among you. Share some food together after. Some of the things you might do are to sit in a circle and pass a talking stick. Light candles and set them in front of you to represent the light that each of you brings into the world. Make an elixir by setting a crystal in a container of water in the moon light for a night or two and share it with each other. Use your imaginations to create ritual together to honor each other, preparing you to receive the incoming higher vibrations.

Connection is truth
Don't let it slip away
Your heart remembers

Meditation Exercise

Inner Community - Take a few deep breaths, relax and ground yourself by breathing a root from your tailbone deep into the Earth. Then open your crown to the sky and stars. Imagine yourself sitting around a table or in a circle, perhaps out in a beautiful place in nature or wherever feels comfortable to you. As you look around the circle you recognize the faces that go with the variety of voices in your mind. They each represent a part of you, some young and some old, some wounded and some wise. Feel that you are all part of the same being and are all needed for the whole of you to exist. All parts deserve love and acceptance just for being there. See that this group is like a community - all having different needs and gifts. Pass a talking stick around and listen to what is said. Ask them all to share and listen to each other so that you can have a harmonious community within. Stay as long as you like and when you are ready to come back, take a few deep breaths and move your body to come back to present time and space.

Balance within you
Leads to balance outside you

Common Unity

Linda Heron Wind, Ph.D.

I just returned from a camp where mothers and daughters were together for three days with the grandmothers who facilitated and held energy for the gathering. There were many wonder-filled moments but what stays with me year after year and keeps me wanting to go through all the hard work of creating such a camp the next year is simply a feeling. It is one of those feelings that is difficult to describe since it cannot be truly known without having the experience. If I had to put a word to it, it would be community or common-unity.

Girls and moms who hardly know each other drop into a rhythm of sharing, caring, laughing, crying, and finding out that everyone has the same feelings and concerns, the same challenges and delights. It is hard to say how this actually happens because on the first day it hardly seems possible. Yet, each year, by the second day the deepening occurs and connections begin forming and at the end this feeling is fully present, experienced not just by me but by everyone.

There seems to be a yearning for community in people these days as evidenced by the sense of isolation that many have, each of us in our own lives struggling to be ok and deal with the experiences and challenges that shake our sense of who we are. The illusion of separation, each of us trapped in this physical form separate from others and nature, is at times too much to bear. Only the feeling that comes from connection can free us by shattering the illusion of separation. How can we find a way to come back to what is real? How can we see the common-unity that is always there, connecting us with each other and all that is?

Perhaps the camp is one way, and I know that more and more opportunities for this way of being and living in connection rather than separation, are beginning to emerge. While there always have been groups of people that we call communities, only some of them have common-unity. Common-unity means that when we look at each other we accept our differences and recognize our sameness. There is no judgment of each other's journeys - or our own. All journeys and lives are like no other and each is important to the whole. Both the difference and the sameness are valuable.

I am convinced that the one thing that has the potential to heal all the wounds in the world is connection. Whether it is connection of one human being to another, of humans with nature, or of the different parts of ourselves, it is the type of connection found in common-unity that will heal the world we live in. During this time of great change and acceleration of energy, notice where you find community in your life. Is it common-unity? If not, take whatever steps and risks you must to find it or create it.

Common unity
With one heart at the center
Of diversity

Many colors make
The rainbow's magnificence-
Difference is beauty
