Winds of Change
New
vision and inspiration for the journey. June 2006 Full Moon Newsletter
June 11, 2006, Full
Moon in Sagittarius
We are approaching the Summer Solstice on June 21 when the sun and fire energy is the most intense. The acceleration of energy associated with this event combined with the Full Moon on the 11th will undoubtedly stir things up even more than they have been. Think of the 11 of the Full Moon as a gateway into the Solstice energy. It is energy that can be used for the manifestation of dreams and visions or for clearing away anything that stands in the way of your growth. The Sagittarius moon calls us to reconnect with nature for healing and moves us into uncharted territory. Keep the larger perspective during this time to keep from getting lost in what really does not matter in the long run. Stay inspired and hold out your wings for this energy burst to carry you higher! SUMMER CAMPS AND RETREATS
Hummingbird is a symbol for joy and also for mythic journeys. This weekend retreat gives us time away from our everyday world to return to the silence of our hearts while we are serenaded by the birds, the frogs, the falls, the wind, and inner knowing. This retreat will provide you with alone and silent time in nature as well as sharing circles, and opportunities for creating sacred art. Individual time with Heron will also be available for guidance. We will let hummingbird lead us back to ourselves, as we discover the sweet spring of joy that flows eternally within our hearts. TIME: Friday June 23
(7 PM) to Sunday June 25 (12 Noon)
Mystery Schools over the ages taught the basic truths of the Universe that are often found at the core of every major religious and spiritual tradition. Through small group activities and exercises, community talking circles, creative arts, story telling, singing, dancing, ceremony, and sacred play, Awakening Spirits Earth School camps teach a core curriculum that emphasizes:
Earth School camps provide an opportunity for youth and adults to explore and practice together these teachings in a playful and loving atmosphere.
When parents and children engage in the same process of learning about themselves it enhances family life. We learn from each other, younger and older and we engage in creative activities, storytelling, music making, and playing in the woods and the water. A girls hoop, boys hoop, and parents hoop explore questions and stories and then come together to share around a camp fire. FOR: Parents, male
and female, and sons or daughters, ages 5-12
When mothers and daughters share the same deep experience of community where each person, regardless of age, is honored for their gifts and wisdom, magic happens! Through loving community with ourselves, each other and the Earth, we learn how to be who we really are and the skills to take that home to enhance the mother-daughter relationship within the family. Children spend time in age clustered hoops as well as whole community activities. Mothers hoop engages in similar learning and activities that address mothering concerns as well as self-growth. Come play with us in the beauty of nature!
If we are to survive on this sweet Earth and move into the predicted time of love and peace, we must learn to be the conscious dreamers of our lives and our world. Shamans have known how to dream the world and jaguar teaches us the secrets that the darkness holds. Together we will make our dream masks, call on the jaguar and dance into the darkness to bring these ancient wisdom ways more fully into our lives. Join us as we dance, create ceremony and sacred art, and ride the jaguar into the darkness. TIME: Friday September
29 (6 PM) to Sunday October 1 (Noon) For more information, call Linda Heron Wind at 585-924-5620

A Book of Inspiration - Take a few moments to prepare for the Full Moon and the approaching Solstice by creating a book of inspiring things. It might contain a list different things to do that inspire you or it could be an ongoing compilation of inspiring poetry, pictures, or quotes. Between the Full Moon and the Solstice, commit to doing one inspiring thing a day and notice how you feel. Place this book on your altar or bedside table where you will see it each day and can use it to begin and end the day. Inspiration comes
Restoring Balance - Get comfortable and take a few deep breaths to relax your body. Pay attention to your breath. Breathing in and breathing out. Imagine that the air is full of golden sparkles and as you breathe in they come into your lungs and begin to fill your body. As you breathe out release heaviness. Continue this process until you are filled with golden sparkles and feel a sense of lightness in your body. Imagine walking through your typical day and as you do, notice what around you is filled with sparkles and what seems filled with heaviness. Breathe in the sparkles wherever you find them until you are so filled with sparkles that there is a trail of them left behind you wherever you go. Come back into your body and bring your awareness into present time, still feeling the sparkles circulating in your body. Filling up again

Inspiration and Balance
Linda Heron Wind,
Ph.D. Why would we want to go against the natural
laws of balance? Perhaps it is because we place more value on perspiration
than inspiration. For example, in our culture "doing" is rewarded
while "rest" is punished. Doing is for the strong and successful
and rest is for the weak and failures. Giving is noble but receiving is
selfish. And so we learn how to breathe out more than we breathe in on
spiritual and energetic levels. The consequence of this over time is that
our forward movement and giving out must be stopped in one way or another
(usually not voluntarily), until balance is restored. Sometimes we are stopped by illness or emotions
and sometimes we are stopped by life circumstances, but we are always
stopped in such a way that it is not possible to continue to live in the
way that we had been living. Sometimes these pauses are brief and other
times they are extended, but before we proceed we must fill ourselves
back up with breath and spirit. Perhaps that is why we call it inspiration
which means both to taking in air and to take in spirit. Making a daily practice of inspiration can
help maintain our balance such that long pauses to fill back up are not
necessary. Know what the things are that inspire you, and drink deeply
of them daily. Is it being in nature, reading positive news, talking with
those who love you, creativity, music, dance, play time with animals,
or meditation? What inspires me may not be what inspires you. And what
inspires me one day may not be the same as what inspires me the next. When I am inspired I feel light and full of
energy. When I am not, I feel heavy. It is the difference between what
it feels like to breathe in and what it feels like to breathe out. The
rhythm of the breath can teach us to notice when it is time for inspiration.
When you are feeling heavy, take a deep breath and look for something
inspiring to bring you back into balance again. Balance is maintained
