July Full Moon in Capricorn - (July 21, 2005 - 7:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time)

Live in joy and light
Be present each sacred day
Loving completely

All fears are dissolved
Into great pools of laughter
Nourishing our souls.

What's Happening?

With the Full Moon in Capricorn again, it looks like we are headed for another dose of intensity that will catapult us deeper within. There seems to be no room for regression to old patterns these days and any movement in that direction is bound to leave us without any doubt that old patterns will no longer work. As we learn to rely solely on our intuitive knowing rather than anything that might rationally grow from the past, we can find ourselves playfully bobbing in the waves.

A digression of focus to the past will leave us gasping for breath as the undertow catches and drags us through the drama one more time until we are content to keep our focus in the present. While these wild rides are a bit disconcerting to say the least, they apparently are necessary to get us to make the evolutionary leap in consciousness that is being called for at this point. We must trust that every experience in our life is leading us toward transformation regardless of how painful or ecstatic it might be. To believe in the light when the sun is shining takes little mastery. To believe in the light in the midst of darkness, now that takes unwavering trust!

In addition, Mercury goes retrograde from July 22nd to August 15th. This is a bit like going to the beach and seeing a sign that says STRONG UNDERTOW. So there is no let up in this fast forward mode of releasing the past. Stay in joy and trust in the present moment and flow with whatever comes.

Chaos surrounds me
Yet my heart remains quiet
Hearing spirit's song

This time we are in
Calls us to do what we find
The most challenging

SUMMER CAMPS AND WORKSHOPS

Awakening Spirits Children's Earth School Camps
An opportunity to experience living in harmony with each other and with the Earth.

Mystery Schools over the ages taught the basic truths of the Universe that are often found at the core of every major religious and spiritual tradition. Through small group activities and exercises, community talking circles, creative arts, story telling, singing, dancing, ceremony, and sacred play, Awakening Spirits Earth School camps teach a core curriculum that emphasizes:

  • Authenticity - being in good relationship with ourselves, others and the environment
  • Accessing and trusting inner guidance
  • Working with feelings and emotions to gain wisdom
  • Developing effective communication skills - hearing and being heard
  • The role of story in our lives - telling and changing our stories

Earth School camps provide an opportunity for youth and adults to explore and practice together these teachings in a playful and loving atmosphere.

Ritual

Making Your South Shield - When working on developing trust within yourself, it is useful to make a symbolic representation of what you are calling forth. In this case you can make a South shield that represents trusting your experience. Any material can be used to make the shield - fabric, leather, stone, glass, etc. Generally shields are a circular shape but any shape will do. Paint or decorate the shield in whatever symbols hold a feeling of trust for you. On the full moon, let it hang in the moonlight to activate it. Then find a place to hang it where you will see it each day. You might want to journal about whatever trust issues come up in your daily life and how you can use your South shield to help you.

The South Shield protects
By showing me of what is true
Safety is within

Meditation Exercise

Riding the Waves of Now - Get in a comfortable position and take a few deep breaths. Allow yourself to be present with your breath, its gentle movement in and out, your chest and stomach rising and falling. Imagine that you are floating in water and the waves are gentle like the breath, lifting you up and then down in a rocking motion. As you synchronize your breath with the waves, it feels like you are cradled by the water and held safe by this soft, vast, mother ocean. Larger waves might come raising you up higher but you trust the water to support you. Nothing to do, no reason to think, just feeling connected to the water. You are part of it and it is part of you. The water will carry you wherever you need to go and nothing can happen to you that is not already part of the journey. Just staying in the moment, and riding the waves of breath and water, allowing, being, living, loving whatever is. Stay there as long as you like and then come back into your physical body trying to hold that feeling as you feel your breath go in and out throughout your day.

Breathe in and breathe out
Riding waves that come and go
Safe in love's cradle

The Shield of the South

A lot of people are having a difficult time these days feeling safe on Earth. If you look at some of the chaos that is reigning around the world as well as in our own personal lives, it is no wonder that we get a bit jittery. Yet if we can really ground the spiritual perspective into our third dimensional lives, concern about safety disappears. I believe that we are being asked to do exactly that - live from a spiritual perspective. Click here for the full article.
