April Full Moon in Scorpio - (April 24, 2005, 6:06 AM Eastern Daylight Time) Lunar Eclipse (4:54 PM EDT)

Surrounded by love
You and I who disagree
The circle holds us

Inspiration is
Gourmet food for my spirit
Nourishing my soul

What's Happening?

The Moon in Scorpio takes us deep for clearing of the deadwood of the psyche and our lives. Combined with a lunar eclipse, it gives us the opportunity to look again within us and release the oldest patterns that still hold us in the lower vibrations. Powerful energy is moving these days to awaken what is still sleeping and bring forth what has remained hidden. With the newness of spring and the awakening of the Earth around us, it is now time to move forward in a new and different way.
Look for the places within you that seem stuck and use the energy of this full moon eclipse to help clear away the blocks to flow in your life. Just as the waters of spring rush to clear what has remained frozen in winter, let the waters of this moon rush over those stagnant places within to bring new growth, clarity, and movement.

Clearing away stuff
That no longer is useful
Creating more space

Deep within me are
All the healing resources
Everything I seek

Upcoming Workshops

Emotional Education for Parents and Children.
Facilitated by Linda Heron Wind, Ph.D.

You probably never went to school to learn about the purpose of your emotions, how they can be effectively expressed, and what they can teach you. If you are like most people you learned about your emotions from your parents who didn't know any more than you did. This usually results in a variety of ineffective ways of responding to your emotions that go all the way from stuffing them to projecting them onto others.

Wouldn't it be nice if you and your children could learn together how to work with emotions in a way that enhances family relationships and promotes good emotional skills in everyday life? That is exactly what this series of classes is about. In 4 sessions of 2 1/2 hours each you will acquire the knowledge and practical skills that will provide a solid foundation for your family to work effectively with the emotions that surface in everyday living.

Using dialog, role playing, self control techniques, and problem solving skills, parents and their children will learn to identify, express, learn from, and resolve their emotions as well as how to respond in helpful ways to the emotions of others.

  • Recognizing emotions in ourselves
  • Recognizing emotions in others

The Marriage Basket -Weaving the Aspects of Self into Unity
June 22-26, 2005 Shequaga, Dansville, NY
Facilitated by Linda Heron Wind and staff

"It is time," said Old Woman, "all the pieces are contained within this basket. I have been gathering them, one by one, and welcoming them home. They now must be woven into something greater than just many pieces in a basket. This is what you have come here for, are you ready to weave yourselves into ……… Well, perhaps it is not for me to say but for you to discover."

Are you ready? If your heart says yes, join us in this magical time of using solstice energy and the energy of a common-unity of women doing ritual and ceremony together to weave yourselves into something greater. Under the solstice sun by day and the full moon and stars by night we will create a sacred space to do our work. Sacred art, small group work, large group ritual, sweat lodge, silence in nature, energetic tools, song, dance, and community are a few of the tools we will use to weave the many aspects of our selves into unity, wholeness and holiness. We have all been working hard to gather the authentic pieces of ourselves and now is the time to bring them together to form a container for a radiant wholeness. We move through fear into integrity where the inner self is the outer self and the illusion dances around us in support of the radiance we vibrate out into the world.

Begins: Wednesday, June 22 at 7:30pm
Ends: Sunday, June 26 at 12 Noon
Cost: $250 (additional $15 membership fee for non-CIRCLE members)

Awakening Spirits Children's Earth School Camps
An opportunity to experience living in harmony with each other and with the Earth.

Mystery Schools over the ages taught the basic truths of the Universe that are often found at the core of every major religious and spiritual tradition. • Authenticity - being in good relationship with ourselves, others and the environment
  • Accessing and trusting inner guidance
  • Working with feelings and emotions to gain wisdom
  • Developing effective communication skills - hearing and being heard

Ritual

Eclipsing Old Patterns - Prior to the eclipse, prepare a list of all the places in your life you feel stuck. Look at your patterns around these issues and identify the patterns that are not working. Perhaps these patterns worked for you at one point in your life but, if they are not working now, they need to be released. Each pattern that you want to release can be written on a separate piece of paper. I like to write them on circles but any shape will do. Around the time of the eclipse, if possible, or at least on that day, either bury the pieces of paper and plant something on top of them or add them to your compost pile. If you cannot do either of these things, then burn them and scatter the ashes over the Earth. Sit in meditation following this looking at what new patterns you can bring forth in your life at this time.

Releasing patterns
That no longer feed my path
Eclipsing the past

Meditation Exercise

The Inner Garden - Get yourself in a comfortable position and take a few deep breaths, exhaling a deep root into the Earth to ground yourself. Allow the fresh Earth energy to come up to your heart on the next inhale and then exhale branches and leaves out the top of your head into the sky and stars. Breathe the sky and star energy down into your heart, so that Earth and Sky meet in your heart. Then imagine that you are walking in a garden in your greatly expanded heart. Notice what is growing there and the state of this garden. Is it well tended or are there weeds growing and over ripe fruit laying around. If you come across ripe fruit, savor it and allow it to nourish you. Feel what this fruit symbolizes in your life. If you find fruit that is over ripe, create a compost pile that can nourish the things still growing in your garden, and place the over ripe fruit in it. Notice what old patterns this over ripe fruit represents. Also notice what is not yet ripe and see if it needs a bit more water or fertilizer. Be aware of what these represent in your life. There may also be weeds, things you did not plant in this garden but were placed there by others. Discern whether you need to pull these weeds and compost them or if you need to leave them because they are beneficial to your garden. As you tend this inner garden, be aware that you may visit each day of this waning moon to continue to release what patterns are over ripe and pull weeds if necessary. Give lots of love to what is growing and harvest each day that which is nourishing. Then you can come back into your physical body with a deep breath, stretching and opening your eyes.

Garden of my Heart
I tend you each day with love
You nourish my soul

Ripe Relationship

We are always in relationship, with ourselves, each other, the Earth and all her children. I laugh when people tell me they feel alone. How can you be alone when you are always there? But perhaps we experience loneliness when the relationships we have with ourselves and others are not ripe. What makes a relationship ripe, juicy and nourishing? Just as ripe fruit must be savored in the moment, relationships are ripe when they exist in the present moment.

The saying that life is what happens when you are thinking about something else applies here. One purpose of life is to have experience. It is not to hold on to experience or to think about what kind of experience you might like to have. The purpose is to actually have the experience and be fully present for it. Ripeness is when we are fully present for the experience in this moment without bringing in past experience or wishing for something else. Notice how much of the time you think about what has already happened or what you hope for or worry about happening in the future. And how much time are you really just present for what the moment holds?

With couples almost all the relationship problems that come up are about the past or future. Either they still are holding on to the past experience or they want the other person to be different than they are in the present moment. Past experience makes good compost material, just like over ripe fruit does. If you hold onto it too long it gets a bit stinky and it does not nourish you. Its nutrients are valuable in nourishing new growth if we extract the essence from it and allow it to change us. We grow from our experiences of the past but we cannot take them with us and continue to grow. The future is not here yet and we can never know what exact form it will take. A flower that buds does not always turn into the fruit we expect. We can tend it and nurture it, but until the fruit is ripe, it will not nourish us. Only fruit that is ripe in this moment can do that.

Likewise, our relationship with ourselves must focus on the ripeness that is here now. I am not the same person I was 10 years ago and neither are you. If I am holding onto who you were then, I limit the possibilities in our relationship. If I continue to chastise myself for what I did then, I limit who I can be now. I am always changing but I cannot live today wishing I could be now who I might become 10 years from now. I must be fully present for who I am in this moment, accepting that this is the present ripe expression of who I am.

I think it is interesting that in the line in the Lord's Prayer that is often translated, "Deliver us from evil," when translated directly from Aramaic (the original language of Jesus), reads, "Keep me from unripeness." So being unripe, or not fully present in the moment, whether it is over ripe or not yet ripe, is the definition of evil. When we look at what we call evil in the world it appears to me that it is where people have been caught in the past and it is that past not the present moment, that dictates their actions in the world. Likewise evil may be those who are controlled by their hopes of the future. The exploitation of the Earth herself, is done by those who seek happiness in what the future holds, rather than in the present moment.

It strikes me that since the word "evil" is simply the word "live" spelled backwards, "live" is what the present is, while "evil" is what the past and future are. EVIL-LIVE-EVIL or PAST- PRESENT-FUTURE Neither the past nor the future are alive. Yet how hard it is for us to be fully present in the moment with no thoughts of the past or future! In that sense, evil lives in us all to the degree that we are not fully present in this moment. Try being fully a-LIVE! Savor its juicy, sweet flavor and aroma! Let it nourish your soul!

Ripe relationship
Juicy and sweet this moment
There is no other
