November 2004 (Full Moon in Gemini - November 26, 3:07 PM Eastern Standard Time)

Each step in beauty
I carefully walk this path
Called "present moment"

Return to presence
Each moment, each hour, each day
Divine communion

What's Happening?

The moon in Gemini is a time for weaving a new web of understanding both within us and among us. This might be a good time to focus on creating new connections within our nervous system that allow us to respond to life in more open, accepting and loving ways. Since this opportunity is presenting itself at Thanksgiving, a time when families often come together in gratitude, there should be ample occasions to practice a new inner attitude toward life. I have noticed that many people seem to be dealing with core issues right now, many of which originate in our families. Being more accepting of life first requires that we accept ourselves more completely just as we are. From that place of unconditional self-acceptance we can extend acceptance to others in our family, just as they are. Old patterns of withholding acceptance from ourselves or others until we reach the desired level of "perfection" our culture requires, must be released if we aspire to create a peaceful and loving society. Release it with gratitude for the understanding of all the pain and suffering that judgment creates both inside and outside of us. Instead embrace the true perfection of unconditional acceptance.

Accept the present
Don't fight with it or judge it
Be in sacred space

Upcoming Workshops

  • December 12, 1-5 PM The Dancing that is the Stillness - Entering the North Gate in Victor, NY.
In the North we must learn to dance with the breath and use sound vibration to clear the mind. With clear focus and stillness we enter into the Mind of God. Entering the Circle of the Soul through the North Gate represents the mastery of mind, where thoughts and images serve unity rather than separation. Stillness of mind is necessary to be fully present to yourself as well as others. For many people life is what happens when you are thinking about something else. We will explore a variety of ways to enter the stillness of presence, passing through the North Gate into unity.

Singing the Star Song
With angelic harmony
In perfect silence

Dancing the Star Path
Through spiraling galaxies
In perfect stillness

Details are available on the Workshops page of this website or the CIRCLE website www.circleinc.org.

Ritual

A Song of Gratitude - One way to harness the power of your mind is to assign it a task that brings about a high vibration. Singing or chanting with a specific focus does that. You can use a song or chant that you know or make one up.

Begin singing or chanting out loud or to yourself with a focus of gratitude for all there is in your life that serves you.To each thing, being, person, or element sing a verse of the song or repeat the chant. Think of the song or chant as a way that you can give a gift back to what serves you. Continue this process throughout your day, as you dress, shower, eat, drive, walk and any time that you do not need to use your mind for some specific task.

The song or chant becomes like background music in your head. Often after doing this for a period of time you will find yourself in a profound silence with a deep feeling of gratitude. It would be good to do this on Thanksgiving Day (perhaps even the day before if you need some practice) and continue it through until the full moon on Friday. Holding a focus of gratitude for an extended period of time makes it easier to be in a state of acceptance and it allows your brain to become entrained to the vibration of gratitude.

Sing through my heart this moment

Meditation Exercise
Sacred Unity - Take a few deep breaths and relax, grounding yourself into the Earth and opening up to the sky. Become aware of the energy that surrounds you, feeling the luminous egg that envelops your physical body with its many layers and colors. It might appear from afar like a spinning galaxy in outer space.

As you allow this galaxy of light, space, and form to spin around you, as you look more closely, you become aware that within it are star systems, suns, planets and moons, within the spaciousness of your being. You can see the planet Earth and as you get closer, the oceans and mountains upon her. Still closer you see trees, plants, animals, and people. Notice that all the people and beings are a part of your energy. Within all of this you see the physical form of what you call yourself. All of these things that you see are part of the Shining Presence of Sacred Unity. Like nesting dolls each is a part of the other and yet is the whole as well.Allow yourself to feel the shining, the unity, the wholeness that you are.

I am divine light
Pouring through this earthly form
God looks through these eyes

Inspiration

Love is cosmic glue
Filling space between atoms
To create all form

Surrender to love
All the forces within you
That fight with what is

The Witness

"What would you know," she said,
that giant maple towering above the forest floor,
"If you had prayed at sunrise and sunset each day
For two hundred years?"
"What would you know if you had stood silent
beneath the starry skies and winter snows,
wept with the rain,
and danced in the wind that long?"
"What would you know if you had listened
to each bird's song
and the animals conversing through day and night?"
"What would you know if you had witnessed
the coming and going of the plant people
as they moved through their cycles on the forest floor?"
"What would you know if you had welcomed each season
budding and leafing, releasing and letting go
two hundred times with joy?
"What would you know if you had been present
each moment laughing with the hawk, owl, and squirrel
or with only yourself as you stood there in the forest?
What I know, having done all this, is
that life is not to be missed.
Each moment of experience is like no other
and will never be repeated,
not even in two hundred years.

Living Gratitude

Growing up, our family said grace before our Sunday dinner and on special occasions such as Thanksgiving or Christmas. We were also taught to say thank you when appropriate. Beyond that, it just seemed a given that my life was as it was. As I grew older and learned about people who lived differently than I did, at first I became angry about the apparent inequities. My dad took census for the school district in the summer and often I would ride with him. This gave me a chance to see some of the more extreme living situations, for example, a family of six migrant workers who lived in a room that was 8 by 10 feet. I was very idealistic and looked for ways to change the world in high school but by the time I reached college, I had decided that there was nothing I could do about the state of the world.
