What's Happening?

The energy feels a little like sitting on top of a volcano that is about to erupt! Very chaotic energy that is even making the hurricanes shift their spin and dance in circles. We just passed through an initiatory gate of the Equinox that was centered this year between the new and full moon this month. Archangel Michael tells us that this is the beginning, no more waiting, and that the new energies will be felt strongly in October. Well, October will be a very powerful doorway and initiation. On October 1 (6 PM - 12:48 AM Eastern time), a pentagram is formed astrologically by the moon, Saturn, Mercury, Pluto and Uranus. The pentagram is associated with the reawakening of the divine feminine and will create the first pillar of the initiatory gateway into unity consciousness. The second pillar is a pentagram formed by the moon, Saturn, Pluto, Uranus and Jupiter on October 28th (12:49 AM - 6:49 PM) immediately after a lunar eclipse on the 27th at 11:07 PM. In the middle of these two pentagrams is a solar eclipse on Oct 13th at 11PM . I am not sure what this all means but it does sound like big stuff, and a time to release the past and move into the world we have been waiting for.

The September full Moon in Aries signifies a time to wake up and remember who we truly are, even if those around us don't appreciate it. Remembering here is in its highest sense - remember that we are all one, that we are connected to the web of life, that we are the light, that we are made of love, and that we are here to live this knowing.

  In the North we must learn to dance with the breath and use sound vibration to clear the mind. With clear focus and stillness we enter into the Mind of God. Entering the Circle of the Soul through the North Gate represents the mastery of mind, where thoughts and images serve unity rather than separation.

Ritual

Gate of Initiation - This initiation ritual will begin on the September full moon and end on the full moon eclipse in October. Begin by cutting a large circle out of a plain piece of paper or card stock. Make it at least 8 inches in diameter or larger. Place this circle on an altar or table top where it can remain undisturbed for this lunar month. Find two objects that you can set on the two sides of the circle, left and right, as you face the circle. These can be stones, crystals, statues, candles, plants, or whatever feels right to you. These two objects form the gateway.

The area of the circle in front of the gateway as you face it represents where you are now and the area behind the gateway represents where you will be when you move through this initiation. Set this circle up on the full moon and over the next two weeks write words, draw or place objects representing what you are ready to leave behind or eclipse from you life in the area in front of the gate. On the other side draw a pentagram or five pointed star and put symbols of where you would like to be in each point. Use symbols that carry a feeling level rather than specific physical things that might limit what is possible.

On the day of the solar eclipse (Oct 13) cut the circle in half and burn the part that represents all that you are releasing. For the two weeks after that continue to meditate daily on the symbols of what you are bringing into being and place a lit candle on the pentagram to draw energy to them.

On the lunar eclipse (Oct 27), take the rest of the circle apart and cut out the pentagram or star. Place it on the altar with a candle over it to continue empowering this new place you have stepped into.

Trees release their leaves
With no grief or great remorse
Blessing their beauty

Release the patterns
That no longer serve your path
Like trees release leaves

Meditation Exercise
Theatre of Imagination - Get in a comfortable position and take a few deep breaths. Imagine yourself in a small movie theatre. The seat is comfortable and you are feeling relaxed. Across the screen it says, "COMING ATTRACTIONS." Notice what image appears on the screen and how you feel when it comes up. You have a control switch in your hand that has two buttons on it - one marked "delete" and one marked "save." When an image comes up on the screen that feels whole with a sense of unity, save it. When an image comes up that feels like separation, delete it. Continue in this way until no more images appear. The replay the imagery you have saved. Come back into your physical body holding the feelings of wholeness and unity. Continue to work with the saved images throughout the month.

The Gate of Initiation

Initiation is a natural phenomenon. It consists of stepping away from what has been, through a gateway that is neither here nor there and finally into a new place that is unknown until you get there. Caterpillars do this when they go into a cocoon (the gateway) on their way to becoming a butterfly. Humans do this as they pass through transitions in their lives from being a child to an adult or from an adult to a wisdom keeper. There are many examples of initiation in nature. Indigenous people ritualized these transitions as times of gaining wisdom and power. In our culture, we not only lack the rituals around initiation, but we are taught to hold on to what is and grow in a linear fashion.

Initiation is not linear but a circular movement. In a sense, the changing of the seasons represents an initiatory experience with growth and flowering in the spring and summer followed by the dying off and stillness of the fall and winter gateway. A seed is a gateway with great potential that cannot be seen in that form. With our linear programming we tend to resist the process of initiation, where we stand in the gateway empty feeling like all that we know is gone and we don't know what is coming next.
