August 2004 (Full BLUE Moon in Aquarius - July 31 - 2:05 PM Eastern Time)

When you call my name
My soft wings will lift you up
Out of illusion

What's Happening?

A Blue Moon is when there are two full moons in the same month, which doesn't happen that often, thus, the phrase, "Once in a Blue Moon."

This Blue Moon is also the Lunar Lammas. Lammas (August 2) is the cross-quarter day half way between the Summer Solstice and the Fall Equinox when the harvest of the grain is celebrated. In addition, we are still under the influence of the Venus alignment that happened in June. At that time Venus was retrograde (its apparent movement relative to Earth was backward). It went direct at the end of June but is still traveling in the same territory it went back over while retrograde.

On August 2rd it enters into new territory, perhaps signifying an end to all the old relationship stuff that has been coming up. The Blue Moon in Aquarius is perhaps our final opportunity to shed our old ways of relating to family and humanity as a whole as it highlights group interactions and provides us with the opening to learn to weave our energies together in harmony.

Upcoming Workshops

Parent-Child Earth School is an opportunity to go to camp with your child. Why would you want to do this? We work with problem solving skills and strategies for the family. When these are practiced within the camp community they are easy to take home. It also creates a unique bonding with your child around fun activities of story telling, crafts, and nature awareness. Register now for an amazing experience!

We're awakening to the rabbit and the deer
They tell us to let go of fear
They show us spirit is always near
We're awakening more each day.

Ritual

Blue Moon Magic - This ritual brings the visioning energy of this full moon more fully into your body. Take a crystal that you can hold in your hand and sit with it a bit while you envision what functional patterns you are calling into your life. Consider how you would like to be in relationships with family, partners, friends, and others. Feel the visions and transfer the feelings to the crystal. On the full moon or a day before or after, place the crystal in a glass container of water and set it in the light of the moon. In the morning drink some of the water and use the rest to sprinkle over you and throughout your home, seeding it with your visions of good relationship.

Crystal visions seed
The illusion with new songs
And sacred stories

Meditation Exercise
Through the Doorway - Close your eyes, get comfortable and take a few deep breaths to quiet and center yourself. Breathe, be grateful, release concerns, until you find your mind silent and peaceful. Imagine yourself in nature in one of your favorite places. Just a few feet in front of you is a doorway. It might be a wooden rectangular doorway, a stone doorway, one made of natural materials such as bushes and trees, or a round doorway that one might find in a hobbit house. Notice a misty substance in the doorway and begin moving toward it. Feel the mist as you step through. Allow yourself to become aware of feelings, sounds, colors, light, images, or whatever you perceive this other side to be like. This is the place where all things are connected and all things can communicate with each other. Is there anything there that has a message for you? Stay as long as you like and then come back and slowly open your eyes. With your eyes open, notice a doorway before you and the mist that fills it. Either move through the doorway or allow it to come to you, until you are on the other side. How do your surroundings look different?

When I look, I see
And when I listen, I hear
When I feel, I love

THe Magic Doorway

The children were bored, tired of waiting the long summer day for the bonfire and feast that Lammas night. They had played games, poked around the yard, and watched clouds come and go.

"I know," said Frank. "Let's go down to the Old Man's place and spy on him!"

"Sure," said Sally, "he's always got something interesting going on."

The Old Man was just that, an old man that lived on the outskirts of the village. He grew wonderful vegetables and fruits that he brought to town on Saturdays to sell along with the various crafts he made. He always seemed friendly but didn't say too much about himself.

Frank and Sally arrived at the picket fence that marked the edge of the garden and peeked between the boards. It appeared that the Old Man was simply sitting in the middle of his garden talking.

"Who's he talking to?" Sally quietly asked Frank.

"I don't know. I don't see anyone there," whispered Frank. "Can you hear what he is saying?"

Just then the Old Man got up and walked straight toward them. He peered over the fence and smiled. "Those tomatoes are never wrong!" he exclaimed. "They can sense visitors a 100 yards away. Come on in and sit a spell." He opened the nearby gate motioning them in. Click here for the full article.
