December Full Moon (Introduction)

Listen inside you
For the rhythm of your heart
Let it guide the dance

I must stay awake
To be the master of joy
I call and it comes

Dance joy with each step
Now - no other place to be
Only time there is

What's Happening?

These days I feel a little like I am going 30 mph on an expressway with cars whizzing past me at 80 mph. There is an impulse to speed up but a greater wisdom keeps my foot off the accelerator. Perhaps it is the impending solstice and deepening darkness or the Earth Mother herself whispering in my ear that keeps me moving in this slow dream-like dance. Yet it may be the greater cycles of time and shifting of the ages that are eliciting what feels like an instinctual release of all that is racing by me. Where is it all going so fast?

The trees are not running and even the wind spends most of its time just playing with only short bursts of rearranging the landscape. I think I have stepped out of a story that says, "there is somewhere to go other than here and I must get there fast." What a strange story!

Winter solstice is traditionally a time of storytelling. What stories are you ready to step out of?

Upcoming Workshops

The last fall Dancing with the Music of the Spheres Mystery School offering will be Mirrors of the Soul on December 7th. See the Workshops page on my web site for more information.

Workshops scheduled for spring will focus on the application of shamanic methods to living in a more authentic and heart-full way. The Shaman knows how to walk between the worlds and across dimensions to retrieve wisdom for self-mastery and healing, and to live everyday life fully. Today each of us is being called to become the shaman in our own lives.

March 7th will be Shamanic Tools for Everyday Living, April 4th will be Shamanic Tools for Healing, and May 2nd will be Shamanic Tools for Self-Mastery. These will be offered from 1-5 PM in Victor, NY. See the Workshops page on my web site for more information.

Ritual

Burden Bundles - On the full moon, December 8th, begin a process of looking at what old beliefs, stories, and patterns you are ready to release. From a pile of small sticks, select a stick for each thing you wish to release. Write what you are releasing on a small strip of paper and wind it around the stick taping or tying it in place. As you accumulate sticks, tie them together in a bundle and carry them with you everywhere. The bundle represents the burden of old stuff that you are expending energy to carry around with you everyday. Continue this process for two weeks. On December 22, the Winter Solstice, burn the sticks in a fire, releasing all the burdens you have been carrying so you can start the new sun cycle fresh on December 23, which is also the new moon.

With sacred intent
Lay your burden in the fire
Releasing the past

Solstice fire burns
Old stories release their hold
As flames transform them

Meditation Exercise

Table of Wholeness - A powerful way to unity consciousness is to invite all parts of yourself to the table. This meditation creates a space for wholeness to gather. Get in a comfortable position and take a few deep breaths to center yourself and relax. Imagine a space that feels comfortable to you - it might be a place in nature, a campfire, a cottage in the woods, or any space where a number of people could sit in a circle. Imagine sitting there and call all parts of yourself to come sit with you. There may be a wise one, children of various ages, the inner parents, or inner masculine and feminine. There are aspects you like and ones you don't. Once everyone is seated, ask if there is any other part of yourself not present that would like to be there and invite that part to come in and sit down. Sit in silence together, feeling the power of the circle connecting you all in wholeness. You might imagine some food that feels nourishing to you being passed around so everyone is fed. Then ask if anyone wishes to speak. If so, pass a talking stick and listen to whoever speaks. If not, simply sit awhile together. Thank everyone for coming and being a part of you.

Calling all aspects
To the table of wholeness
Everyone's welcome

Weaving and Mending the Fabric of Life

I heard a quote once that said, "The universe is not made up of atoms, it is made up of stories." Something about that feels so true and the awareness tucked within its vibration has been unfolding within me. This is the information that has come to me about how stories are woven into our lives and how to free the stories to shift consciousness. Click here for the full article.
